There is something to be said for the "faithful retainer." The person, plant, friend who is constant and dependable, but somehow, for this, less valued. Every gardener has the plants in their area that grow without fail...I'm sure this is true...and this can make them seem common, whereas to another, they would be prized. Such is the case in Sacramento with Euryops. What would you say to a shrub that bloomed thru winter with yellow daisy-like flowers when its neighbors had dropped everything but their thorns? My experience with Euryops is that I can abuse this plant, with neglect and artless pruning, and it says, "I'm there for you."
According to the Sunset Western Garden Book, the easy care and extremely long flowering season of Euryops pectinatus' make it a good filler, background plant or low screen. So there!

Great! At first look, it seemed a yellow Daisy
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! Good E.
ReplyDeleteThe faithful flower. Our part of the country gives splashes of color all year around.
ReplyDeleteLovely. Yellow flowers seem to be the hardiest and always welcome, well apart from dandelions in the garden, alhough I love them by the roadside.
ReplyDeleteWelcome and I tip my garden hat to these beautiful workhorses in your garden!
ReplyDeleteNice work; thanks for sharing!
Beautiful yellow flowers and blooming all winter...need that here...good E choice...
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should try some of that! Inspiring and lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou're absolutely right about the faithful plants. That's how I feel about my red ginger. I know it is considered "tropical" and "exotic" in many places, but here I find it a bit pedestrian and am considering trading it out for something else.
