Ruth Bancroft Garden in Walnut Creek

A few years ago I discovered the Ruth Bancroft Garden (Walnut Creek, California), internationally recognized as one of the finest private gardens in North America. Check out its website for tours, plant sales and classes. It is truly unique. Mrs. Bancroft turned 100 on September 2nd, 2008!

  1. Hello Jeannie, Echeveria is a true favorite of mine. I have a few and I think if I continue with my sailing I certainly have to grow more of them....they are so durable. Have a happy weekend Jeannie

  2. Hi Tyra...My family went to Sweden in 1999. When we sailed from Sandhamn, there was no wind, so the boys did tricks for us up the poles. My daughter and I took a ferry to Vaxholm and discovered a tea shop and the fragrant Soderblandning Tea. We had dinner in the ballroom at City Hall. Later I discovered Swedish magazines. Hus och Hem had a greenhouse (just like yours!)and plans. I've always wanted it. However, I don't have old windows in my attic, and being from California, our growing season is from around March to November...so it hardly seems justified. I think I need a stuga (Swedish cabin)and a garden with morning dew!
